An illuminated tray needs more than a module count. The artwork, acrylic, depth, backing and installation conditions all matter when choosing the lighting. Keep the electrical product details with the sign design so the layout and material order describe the same job.
Start with the products you intend to use.
Confirm the exact LED module product and its electrical data with your supplier. Agree compatible power supplies, the permitted string arrangement and the connections needed. Check that the components suit where the sign and supplies will be installed.
Discuss the acrylic and the light effect you want at the same time. A layout from another sign is useful to understand the process, but it cannot tell you the correct spacing, module quantity or supply size for your own job.
Use the module maker’s current data sheets and installation guide. For example, the Principal Sloan document library includes product, layout and power-supply information.
Check where the modules will go.
Import the artwork first. In Lighting, choose the modules and spacing, then use Generate LED Layout. Review the proposed positions against the artwork and construction before keeping the arrangement.
Move modules where needed and check seams, tray edges and wiring reach. Generating a new layout replaces the previous layout and manual moves. Save a separate job before trying another arrangement.

After applying the layout, use LED and Power to review module load, supply capacity and feeds. Use the correct data for the chosen modules. Check the proposed arrangement and wiring reach against the supplier’s product requirements.
Brightness planner helps compare an estimate before applying a layout. Read Estimate assumptions and check the result on the actual sign. An on-screen estimate does not confirm finished brightness or replace your normal electrical and workshop checks.
Bring the complete lighting order together.
- Record the exact module product and checked quantity.
- Confirm compatible power supplies and the planned feeds.
- List the required cable, connectors and other agreed fittings.
- Confirm suitable component locations and installation conditions.
- Check what the supplier includes and any agreed spares.
Review the backing drawings with the layout so profiles, drilling and LED guides line up with the artwork and parts. In CAM, use LED-row guides for shallow marking rather than cutting through the sheet. Check the final module positions, connections and light output during manufacture.
